Spyware is one of the most irritating and frustrating forms of Malware your Computer can catch. Malware covers all types of Adware, Viruses, Trojans and Spyware.
Spyware is installed on your Computer without you accepting it. Spyware sits on your Computer, and does exactly what the name suggests, it spies on you, it actually monitors how you use your Computer.
Different Spyware and Adware is designed for different purposes, some is just annoying, where they bombard your Computer with hundreds of Popup Ads, but some is much more worrying, where they actually capture your Keystrokes, meaning they can get your Passwords and Credit Card Numbers.
Can you imagine the hassle it causes, if somebody has your Credit Card information ? Spyware can cause Identity Theft.
If you have Spyware on your Computer, then the symptoms will include hundreds of Popup Ads, appearing even before you visit Websites. These are not always Children friendly either, and very often Parents are worried, when the Children use the Computer, in order of the Risk, that they should be subjected to some of the Filth.

The symptoms of Spyware include:

- Your Browsers Search Engine changes.
- A Slow and sluggish Computer.
Toolbars in your Internet Browser are very useful, except when one appears that you cannot get rid of! Some Spyware installs Toolbars in your Browser that you can’t even Remove!
Icons on your Desktop appear with some Spyware, and common icons include X-rated Videos and Gambling links, and if you try to delete them, they will just Reinstall themselves.
New icons may also appear by the System clock, and if you press Alt-Ctrl-Del you will probably find many Services that shouldn’t be running.
Spyware sometimes annoys it’s ‘users’ by throwing random error messages at them, and it makes their Computer extremely slow, when opening Programs.
Prevention is better than cure in the case of Spyware, to Secure your Computer against Spyware. You should make sure you keep your Operating System up to date, windows offers a “Active updates” Feature that automatically updates your Windows Operating System with Patches.
Be selective who you Download Files from, try to stick to Websites that you trust, preferably ones with a well known Brand names. If you Download Free Software from other sources it may also contain Spyware., and if you try to Download Warez, then that’s your own fault!
Make sure that you fully understand what you are installing, even if it’s boring to read the License Agreement, before you Download and install the Software. Don’t install any Software, where the License Agreement is difficult to understand or even non existent.
Set your Browser to a very High Security Level, so that it detects when a Website is trying to make your Computer Download something. Also with your Operating System make sure that your Browser is kept up to date.
If you see any Popup Windows on your Computer then whatever you do, don’t click the Links in the Window, no matter how tempting they may be, or how Legitimate they may sound, they might install Spyware on your Computer. As soon as a Popup appears close it.
Spam is another annoying thing about the Internet, it’s when you receive E-mails, that you haven’t asked for. If you ever get any Spam, then don’t click on the links, doing so could install Spyware.
Invest in a High Quality Personal Firewall, because this stops Hckers from Hacking into your Computer, and it even prevents Spyware from sending information.
If you already have Spyware on your Computer then you can install Software to do a Spyware Scan, Spyware Detectors are easy to come by. But be careful when choosing a Spyware Scanner, stick to Legitimate Sites some also include Spyware.
