SYNCHRONIZING YOUR PHONE WITH YOUR COMPUTER

Mobile Phones are marvellous little things, no really we are serious! You can store all your Contact Names and Addresses on your Mobile Phone, so you never have to remember a Number!

It’s great for a lot of people, because many really can’t remember Phone Numbers.

It’s not just the Contact list, though you can do pretty much anything with a Mobile Phone these days. Especially with the new smart Phones, with these you can create Calendars, Schedule Meetings, read E-mail, and even send E-email! But most of these tasks used to be been done on the Computer, so what happens to your humble Computer ? Well it doesn’t get left out, you can use your Mobile Phone and Computer together.

On your Computer you are likely to use some form of E-mail Client, and this probably incorporates some form of Calendar, and various other Features that you never use. The most common being “Microsoft Outlook”, if you use Outlook, then you can probably Syncing your Phone with your Outlook’s data.

So what exactly is Syncing ? Well it’s easy, if you create a new Contact on your Phone, it will get added to your Computers Contact list when you sync it, and Vice-Versa.

What things can you Sync with your Phone and Computer ?

  • Contacts.
  • Calendar entries.
  • E-mail Inbox.
  • E-mail Sent Items.

It’s great to Sync Calendar entries to your Phone, if you get into a habit of doing it on a regular basis, then whenever you forget your Schedule, you can just take a look at your Phone, wonderful!

Ok so far it sounds so good, but what if you use an Exchange Server in your Business ? Well you can Sync directly to the Exchange Server on many of the Modern Phones.

Exchange Servers are used in Businesses to share information, and allow access to other peoples Mail Boxes, so you can Sync somebody else’s Mail Box to your Phone if the need ever arisen.

The Sync of the Phone is normally started automatically as soon as you Plug the Phone into the Computer, but what if you don’t want to use a Cable ? Well you’re in luck! You don’t actually have to use a Cable to Sync your Phone, you can in actual fact Sync your Phone using Bluetooth or even Infrared.

Many of the modern Phones have Bluetooth facilities, it was originally Designed with the intention of allowing all Electrical appliances to talk to each other, for example the Microwave would have been able to talk to the Fridge to order more Food.

Although that turned out to be a Pipedream the Bluetooth Technology really found a Home in Mobile Phones!

Bluetooth is normally used for Hands Free, but if your Phone supports it, then you can also use it for Data Transfer, and Synchronizing your Phone with your Computer. If you don’t have Bluetooth on your Computer as standard, then you could consider buying an additional Bluetooth Dongle.
