PLAYING CD IN WINAMP

Winamp is quite a popular Freeware Music Player. It’s so popular because it allows the use of many different Skins and Plug-ins.

The Basic Version of Winamp is available for Free, with a Professional Version available at a Cost. The Freeware Version is released in order to promote the Professional Version.

A Skin Able Application is any Application that you can change the appearance of and, if you have a look on the Winamp Website, you will see there are literally hundreds of different Skins available. The Skins for Winamp can be made by anyone Applications, and it is made available to develop these Skins.

Personalising everything you own is now becoming an obsession. We believe this is why Winamp is so popular. You no longer have to settle for your Media Player to look the same as everybody else’s, you can easily Download one of the Custom Skins, or even make your own to Personalise your Computer.

A wide variety of Plug-ins are available for Winamp, a Plug-in is anything that Adds extra functionality to the Player, examples include:

• Radio Broadcaster Plug-in – shoutcast.
• Album lister.
• Add extra Languages.
• Plug-ins to encode Audio Files.
• Games.

So it’s obvious that Winamp is a very capable little Media Player, but how do you do something simple like play an Audio CD with Winamp ?

Sit well and we will tell you exactly how to do it.

1. Load Winamp.
2. Put your CD in your Computers CD-ROM drive.
3. If the Play-list is not visible click the “PL” button in the main window of the Program.
4. Click “Add” at the bottom of the Play-list window.
5. Select “Folder”.
6. Browse to your CD Drive and click ok.
7. Listen to your Favourite Music!.

You can make is a lot easier than this, set Winamp as the Program, that runs Audio CD’s as soon as you insert them.

But how can you do this ?

Well again it’s pretty simple:

1. Open Winamp if it isn’t already open.
2. Click “Options” from the Menu bar at the Top of the page.
3. Click “Preferences”.
4. Under General preferences, click on the “File Types” tab.
5. Check the Check box that is labelled “Launch Winamp for Audio CD's”.
6. Click close.
7. Test it out!.

Winamp is a great Player that you can really customize. If it doesn’t do something; then we are sure you can find a Plug-in to make it do it! But unfortunately we haven’t managed to Track Down a Plug-in that makes Winamp capable of making coffee!

You can even use Winamp with the shoutcast Plug-in to Broadcast your own Radio Station on the Internet. Who knows you might become a Celebrity.
