Next to our Phone at home lots of people have a Phone book. Often it is a leather bound Book that’s falling to pieces, because it is used often.
One of the reasons why a lot of people love the Mobile Phone so much is, that it has a built in Phone Book. No matter how many times you look up somebody’s number the Phone Book will always stay in perfect condition.
Lots of people wish the Home Phone had a Phone Book like the Mobile Phone, and you could wonder why they never made them ? You can get some Phones that do have an Address Book, but very few of them is as friendly as the Mobile Phones Adress Book.
Why would you want to Sync your Phone with your Computer ?
- So that you don’t have to manually Edit two different Records.
- So that you can keep both Records up to date.
- So you’re sure that you have the most recent Phone Numbers available.
It’s really easy to manage your Contacts directly on the Phone, you can just Edit delete and add contacts with a few button presses. Of course the more advanced Phones - the smart Phones have another clever little trick up their Sleeves.
These Phones Synchronize with the Computer, and so it is possible to manage the Contacts directly on the Computer.
Why would you want to use a Computer to manage your Contacts ?
- Because typing on a Computer is easier.
- You can use Services to automatically find addresses using just a postcode/zip code.
- You can keep all your Contacts in one place.
If you Synchronize your Phone with your Computer chances are, that it will store the Contact details in Outlook, or an equivalent client. This makes it very easy to access, search for contacts, and amend details without having to touch your Phone.
On many Phones you can organise your contacts into groups, so you could have a “Family” group, and a “Work” group, you can even set a different Ringing Tone for each contact, or each group of Contacts.
Doing this it is possible to know exactly who is calling you, before you even take your Phone out of your pocket. It’s great at weekends if you hear the “work” Ring-Tone then you just don’t bother getting up from your seat.
With most of the smart Phones these days you get a Data Cable included in the Package. Of course you don’t actually need to use a Data Cable, instead you can connect your Phone to your Computer using either Bluetooth or Infrared.
Many Mobile Phones come with additional Software that you install on your Computer to manage contacts, examples include Nokia’s data suite that comes bundled with many Phones.
