EDITING PHOTOS WITH PAINT SHOP PROPaint Shop Pro is a very capable Image Editing Program, it’s Designed for the Home User however a lot of the Tools provided nobody will ever have need to use! It’s a very Advanced Program.
Graphics are very important, why is TV more popular than Radio ? They’re basically the same, just one displays Images. The Images on TV make the whole thing much more enjoyable, it’s the same with the Internet.
Text is pretty boring, the Images make life Online worthwhile! Text is just for information, Pictures are for enjoyment.
A Picture is worth a thousand words remember! And it’s a lot easier to put a Picture on your Page than it is to write 1000 words.
The Images on the Internet aren’t just made by Magic, they are either made in a Graphics Editing Program, or they are taken with a Digital Camera. If the Images are taken with a Digital Camera, then you will need to use some form of Software to clean them up.
Paintshop Pro is very useful, as with many other Graphics Editing Program it supports TWAIN devices: You can Download Files directly from your Camera into the Software (ok that’s not that useful), but what is useful is that the TWAIN Software is also designed to run Scanners, and in your Paintshop Pro Program you can control your Scanner.
If you already have printed Photos that you want to edit then you will have to get these onto your Computer somehow, and try sticking them to the screen doesn’t work.
What you need to do is Scan them in! You can get negative Scanners or Photo Scanners. In the Software itself you can go to Acquire Image, and select Scanner, this will load the Image directly into the Software, so that you can start editing it straight away.
What is Paint Shop Pro capable of ?
Basic operations are very easy with the Paintshop Pro Software, you can resize complete images to make them not only smaller in size, but also the File Sizes will be much smaller.
You can crop images, this is where you select a relevant area of the Photo to keep, and the rest will be deleted. This Tool is exactly the same as any other Software to use, just draw the crop rectangle and double click inside it (or press enter) to finish the crop.
There are a number of different formats for storing Files, examples include Bitmap (.bmp), JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) and gif (.gif), all these file types are best suited for different things.
Your Digital Camera for example will probably store Photos in JPEG format, but you can use this Software to convert between the different types of Files.
You can remove things in the Photo just by using the Clone Tool, or Colour Picker Tool. This is very useful at removing small Articles, for example any blemishes on your face.
There are also some quite interesting effects that Paint Shop Pro has, an image can be embossed or burnt for example. You can even take a colour Photo and convert it into sepia or black and white! It’s amazing how old your Photos look once you’ve applied this filter.
Paint Shop Pro has a really great feature of the automatic touch up the Program will automatically set the colour balance, the contrast and the brightness, so you don’t have to mess about with all the other levels yourself.
Paint Shop Pro is a pretty good, and quite affordable image editing program. The new versions always have some very nice surprises in them!
As with anything the best way to learn is to play around with the Software, you can teach yourself better than anyone else can!
