If you’re not looking to Download any large Files then Websites may be the only place you need to search for your Downloads. Websites are very useful because it’s very easy to locate things to Download.
Why would you want to Download using Websites ?
- It’s convenient.
- It’s easy to find information.
- You can find all required information in the same place.
- It’s a great way to Download trial Software.
- It’s safer if you are Downloading from an official site.
If you are looking to Download very large Files such as Movies, then Websites aren’t really the best places to start looking for them! Websites are generally slow at Downloads especially if there is a lot of demand for the File.
The best way to find things to Download from Websites is to use the main Web Search Engines, or to go to one of the many dedicated Download Sites. If you use a Search Engine then you will simply search for the File, or the type of File that you want to Download. Or you can use Google to search for sites that list Freeware, or Shareware Downloads.
The problem with using Websites to Download with is that if you Download using your browser it can sometimes be unreliable. If your Internet connection gets disconnected then you will have to reconnect and start your Download from scratch all again! Well unless you use a Download manager of some form anyway.
If you are looking to Download a trial version of some Software then the best source to get it is the Internet. If I wanted an evaluation version of Adobe Acrobat then you should log onto the Adobe Website at www.adobe.com and Download a copy from their trial section. Don't Download trials from any of the P2P Download Clients, as these are likely to be infected with Spyware.
Stick to official Download Sites if possible to increase the Security of the Download. You should of course install a high quality Antivirus Program and Firewall before you start Downloading anything else. Read more about this in our other sections.
If you want to Download a complete Website then it is possible, you can use the “File” -> “Save as” links to Download a complete copy of this website to your harddrive. You can also use your Web Editing Program to open a remote File, so you can edit it and save it to your local Hard Drive.
BitTorrent is a form of P2P Download Client, the .Torrent Files are located on Websites, you have to search the Internet and Download these Files to get access to the Torrents, this is another form of Downloading through Websites but using Additional Software.
Downloading from Websites can be dangerous, although it is likely to be safer than Downloading from P2P Networks. Our advice is to stick to main Websites to Download from, stick to names you trust. If you want to Download trial Software or even Freeware try to obtain it from the official Website, this way you know it is less likely to of been tampered with.
