Backup Tools

Backing up your Files isn’t really as tedious as you think it is. With the speed of Computers nowadays, Backing Up your System can take as short a time as 2 minutes.

For those of you who are heavy on documents and presentations, you can Back-Up your saved work and templates in a recordable CD for up to 700 megabytes at a time with only 5 minutes as transfer time.

I am emphasizing on the time here because most people would not bother to do something if it wasn’t important enough and if it consumes time. Sadly, Backing Up a System and Files is one of those things considered to be not important.

Admittedly, it is hard to see the necessity for Backing Up your System and Files when the integrity of your Hard Drive isn’t really in that much danger in the first two years of its life.

Then again, Hurricane Katrina and a slew of other natural disasters as well as human catastrophes have proven time and again the necessity of Backing Up your Software and Files.

Imagine having painstakingly reconstructed your family tree for a number of years and just as suddenly losing them in a split second because your Computer decides to die. If you didn’t spare five minutes to Back-Up sometime in the past, it would take you about the same number of years to do it all over again.

Aside from CDs, DVDs and portable storage devices, you can Back-Up your files using Online Back-Up service oriented Websites. You can store your files in their system for a fee and are assured of being able to access them anytime even with a power shortage as they have back-up power systems to support their Computers.

Also, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are equipped with System Restore Utilities. You can set restore points on a periodic basis and use them as reference points when your Computer System breaks down. To Restore the System, just access the System Restore Utility, select a Restore point and begin. System Restore will not delete any files you may have in your disk.

However, if you happened to install Software after the Restore point, you might lose the shortcuts to the application and will have to set them up again.

With Technology improving everyday, our reliance on Electronic Gadgets increases as well. If you depend on your Computer for your Leisure and Business, it is necessary for you to Back-Up your System. If you don’t, you can lose your computerlife.
